PEONY PLEASURE
581-907 AD, and peonies were all the rage in dynastic China.
Still the emblem of China, they represent nobility, honor, prosperity, romance, passion, and bashfulness.
Here are two Peony myths:
The first: Asclepius, Greek God of medicine, jealously tried to kill his disciple, the physician Paeon, who had used peony root to heal Pluto. Compassionately, Pluto saved Paeon,
turning him into a peony, knowing the flower would be highly praised and admired.
The other myth involves a flirtatious Apollo, the bashful nymph Paeonia, and an angry Aphrodite who turned Paeonia into a red peony. This was not an act of compassion.
