While I'm usually too uptight to do any creative editing, I've enjoyed applying this particular effect to some of my sunset shots. I'd love to claim that I did some wizardry to achieve this effect but all I did was select the "water" effect in my photo browsing software (ACDSee). I think this effect makes very good use of the dead negative space in the photo.
