Legend has it that Andrew Jackson met with Jean Lafitte's brother Pierre before the Battle of New Orleans and exchanged intelligence about the British below New Orleans for his brothers release.

Jackson was at the Cabildo - which was the capitol of the province, and Jean was being held prisoner there.
