Rapides Parish - Woodworth - Camp Claiborne entrance

Built in the fall of 1940 to train American soldiers for the inevitable participation in World War II Almost 500000 troops trained here, though little remains of their inhabitation

The main road through the camp is a state highway, but most of the side roads are Forest Service Roads.

With the close of the war, the base was closed, now the US Forest Service controls the land as part of the Kisatchie National Forest.
