Gregg County - Gladewater - former motel

As a kid I passed this place many times when visiting relatives in nearby Tyler Texas. I would take the train from New Orleanuns to Gladewater where my aunt and uncle would pick me up.

The building has undergone many changes over the years.

This former hotel was once a favorite for a young Elvis Presley. He performed several times in the "new" gym (1954 model) of the Gladewater Junior Senior High School just up the hill. By the way, kids today still call that gym the "new" gym. It is only 60 years old, compared to the rest of the high, which is a grand old lady at 80 years old (1933).
