The Coast Guard lighthouse located in Morgan City Louisiana on the Atchafalaya River near the Intracoastal waterway.

The lighthouse is no longer used, but remains as a part of the area's history. It was once the lighthouse guarding Southwest Reef, and known as the Point Au Fer lighthouse, several miles to the south of Morgan City.

St Mary parish is located in south central Louisiana, midway between New Orleans and Lafayette.
It is located at the mouth of the Atchafalaya River. St Mary parish is the jump off point for a lot of the offshore oil industry in Louisiana.
