The two Bulgarian ladies are decorating the flag with a lion (the Bulgarian symbol) and the words "Freedom or death". At the time, Bulgaria had been occupied by the Ottoman empire.
I find similarities between the Bulgarian plight of the times past and the Palestinian plight now.

I am proud to be Bulgarian and find the comment of this shot ABSURD!!!How dare you compare the fight for a land that FIRST belonged to the Bulgarian, not the Turks with the Palestinian fight, where there is no historical similarity?I cannot believe it!You should immedietely REMOVE the "similarity" comment from this page!!!!

I find your opinion on the "similarities between the Palestinian and Bulgarian plight" very strange, to put it mildly... Judging by your albums, you must have very good relations with the Arab world - especially Saudi Arabia - which explains your rather odd views on the subject. Try to think why there were no Bulgarian freedom fighters and organisations that called for the exterminations of all Turks, for instance.
