Gen'l Sherman Sequoia

Tonight on the news it stated that the General Sherman, the largest Sequoia is being wrapped to prevent it from being harmed by huge fires only a mile away. I thought I'd post it. This was taken with film about 2005.

Yes, I saw an article about this as well. It would be a real shame to lose the General. A fine b/w of its base here.

Let's hope it survives along with all of the people , towns and homes in the path of this fire

I hope General Sherman survives, after 2,500 years it would be a tragedy if it fell victim to fires caused by man made climate change!

The efforts of many to save this grand tree (and others) is so moving. It's great that you thought to post this photo just in case... It is amazing as well that it has survived so long as it is. What great texture you have captured here!
