Homeless Encampment

I came across this on the loading dock of the closed Spaghetti Works building. It jarred me. I have seen pictures and read articles but this was a reality check for me. I happened to read today that there are 544,000 homeless people in the USA.
If you enlarge this picture you have more of the sense of what is someone's belongings open to the elements.

A sad scene indeed - one wonders what these people do for bathroom facilities ! Good for us to think of these less fortunate folk at this time of year especially. V

It's sad that in a country as rich as ours that so many are living like this. A real eyeopener for sure.

Our city has a plan to end homelessness, but we are failing miserably. That tells me not only is this a sad situation but it must be complex. Which means we must try harder. Well seen. V

Strong documentary image. A sad and needless reality and tragedy, given our resources and the great waste. "V"

Send this to our friends in D.C. This shouldn't happen in this most prosperous nation on earth. Well seen and shot, Neil. V

So sad and sobering and unfortunately a sign of the times. Especially heart wrenching this time of year.

It very well should get to everyone when seen.. and this person seems to have it better than many who have to live on public street with less. There are many who live like this but actually have jobs and work every day.

If our hearts are not hurt by these things, we will never solve the problems.

Well documented Neil.

looks a stark and challenging existence here...still, there is latent energy on display too..

It really is a sad way to live. The city really should take care of these poor souls. Great documentation of this derelict area through your lens, Neil!. I see that two clever folks have created a little privacy for themselves out of various "found" objects.

Wow, this really hits home. No one should have to live this way..
Well documented, Neil...
