Approaching a controlled burn

A controlled burn of fields is legal in Kansas despite exceeding federal pollution standards and outcries by its residents. I and others took pictures for about a half hour and were surprisingly affected by the intense smoke and ash. It was a bright, sunny day. There are economic reasons for the burning according to farmers but not for anyone else.

Like how this is composed. Agricultural burning is like clear cutting in logging. It looks bad. In the long run it is not.
