Monument, Manzanar

Manzanar was the location of an internment camp for Japanese-Americans during WW2. A blot on the country's conscience. Manzanar was one of ten such camps. The image was taken in the cemetery.

Beautiful in monochrome Neil.
New Zealand's shame is the Featherston prisoner of war camp, set up at the request of the U.S.A.
In 1943 the prisoners refused to work. In the ensuing riot 64 Japanese were killed. ~v~
