Hairy Woodpecker (female)

Eastern Ontario

The major difference between the Hairy and Downy woodpeckers is that the Downy is smaller and also has a smaller bill while the Hairy is much larger, with a larger bill.

Such a lovely shot! I was walk in the woods the other day and heard a woodpecker working
away. I was too far to get a good look but your beautiful collection has satisfied my curiosity. V
