端蒙世纪校庆晚宴 Tuan Mong High School Centennial Dinner

端蒙学堂是潮州人办的学校，创设于 1906 年，后来改名为端蒙学校，上个世纪 50 年代增办中学，称为端蒙中学。由于位处市中心，在城市重建计划下，居民多搬迁到其他的邻里区，致使学生报读率不断下降，该校不得已于1994年关闭。

Dear TMHS Teachers and friends Great to browse to this web and view those memorable photos. I had just attended the recent 103th Anniversary Dinner at our lovely hall on 26/09/09. I was glad to see our teachers still looking as healthy as before, espicially Mr Lim (0.1), haha! I was in Tuan Mong since Primary one till Secondary four (1971-1981). Hope to see all the teachers and friends yearly.

Hi, I am so happy to come across this website. I am researching information on my grandfather who was in the "Dong Shi Hui" from 1953, I think. He was a representative from Ngee Ann Kongsi. I found the 30th and 75th anniversary souvenir publication in th Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan Library and some school annual graduation magazines. I would be grateful for information that you might have. Basically I would like more complete information on my grandfather's period of service in the school. Thank you. sauk keow

Hi, I'm Sabrina Teo. I'm a student from 1992 - 1993. Was so amazed when I saw all these photos. Really happy and excited when i saw those teachers who taught me before example - our disciplinary teacher (Mr Ng), Mr Chang K.H (Arts/Chinese Orchestra). Viewed the old photos and recognised teachers like Mr Pang (Maths), Miss Tan (Science), Mdm Lau, Mdm Chia etc. Would appreciate if anyone can update me on any future events. It would be nice if there's another gathering organised to meet up with friends (especially those last batch of students - 1992 to 1993 ) & teachers. It is wonderful to see the celebration and history on web. According to my grandmother, she attended the school in the early 20th Century when she was a young girl. It is my intension to find out my grandmother¡¯s childhood life as part of my ¡°root searching¡±. I'm a student from 1984 - 1988. Really miss the basketball and the food court we use to have. Always feels sad when passing by the building seeing that the school was closed. Was browsing thru the pictures when I catch a glimsp of some familar faces, faces of those teachers that have ever taught me. Although I couldn't recall their names, but their teaching and their loving heart will always be with me. To those teachers from whom have taught in 1984 - 1988, thank you.

Hello Kevin, my name is Carmen Mok and I was a graduate of Tuan Mong High School years ago. In fact, I was part of the last graduating class, class of 1994 before they shut down for good. I viewed your pictures of the Centennial celebration and was deeply amazed at the recognition I get of the teachers. Is there an organization that keeps track of database ? Or do you know if there's future events like this ? My mandarin has horrendous these days as I don't use it and would appreciate any information you may have. 传摘2006年10月28日《联合早报副刊》出席“端蒙” 世纪晚宴有感 ● 舒庆祥 “赫赫兮端蒙，养正兮圣功，勤慎兮诚正，时雨兮春风，声教兮南暨，广被兮无穷，群奋起兮学子，扬校誉兮日隆。” 记得第一次唱起这首校歌时，是距今50年前的1955年。父亲身为潮州人，基于端蒙是潮州人创办的学校，在我们举家从柔佛迁居新加坡后，即把我送进端蒙。我是四年级的插班生。记得在小学时，每逢星期一的周会，同学们在礼堂列队，在周会开始前都要先唱校歌。从小学至中学，校歌一直伴随我成长。端蒙校歌是由曾履川填词，李豪作曲。 2006年10月1日晚是我离校40年后，再一次唱起这首校歌。的确在40年后，在这样一个场合里重唱这首校歌，感觉全然不同。乐的是，重拾回童年的记忆。当年在校时的一幕一幕，有如在眼前，历历在目。喜的是，又能重逢多年未遇的师长和同学。大家无拘无束的尽情交流，心中总是暖洋洋的，只是岁月不留人，如今大家都老了。悲的是，不少师长和校友先“走”了，而母校也不复存在。言谈间，一触及母校消失的问题，大家心中无不感遗憾，端蒙创办于1906年，直至“寿终”，它毕竟还是一所历史悠久的名校，更是潮州人的骄傲。这场别开生面的世纪晚宴办得非常成功，节目丰富多彩，有光碟校史的回顾、文娱表演、幸运抽奖等，而最为人称道的当推老师们在台上自我介绍一幕，最感人至深，掌声、欢笑声，经久不息，这表示对师长们教诲之恩，永志难忘。当时针停留在晚上10时30分时，全场没人先离开，场面温馨，气氛融洽，节目安排妥当，是主要的因素，背后推动策划的校友们点子出得好应予一赞。当分离那一刻无法避免真的来到时，大家互道珍重，带著祝福的心情缓缓离开，心想这一刻何时会再重现？　　　(传自新山)

传摘2006年10月5日《联合早报交流版》同窗情谊长 ● 白宗德　　10月1日晚，参加了端蒙校友会在海皇歌剧院举行的“端蒙世纪校庆晚宴”，回到家里，已近午夜。我意犹未尽，匆匆地把在席间还没看完的光碟“端蒙世纪怀旧相片”看了一遍。光碟里的一张张相片都仿佛有了生命，娓娓地告诉我一桩桩犹如发生在昨天的事。　　端蒙学校创办于1906年，坐落在风光明媚的皇家山公园（今称福康宁公园）附近。学校初期只办小学，后来才办中学及高级中学。60至70年代是端蒙的鼎盛时期，师资优良，学生众多，表现令人瞩目。可惜到了90年代中，学校由于学生人数逐年递减而关闭了。劳苦功高的老师无奈地转到他校服务，巍峨的校舍虽保留但充作其他用途，端蒙也就此走进历史了。　　1996年，一群服务于社会各领域的端蒙校友，本着热爱母校的精神，筹组校友会。经过几个月的筹备和磋商，校友会终于成立了。在校友会成立庆典的晚宴上，阔别多年的老师和同学齐声唱著校歌的场面，是多么的温馨感人！　　从那年起，校友会每年都举行一些有意义的活动，联系大家的感情。这些活动获得校友们的热烈支持。旧校舍开始出现一批批校友的行踪。有关校友会的报道不时见报，“端蒙”又重新走进新加坡社会了。　　如今，校友会已成立10周年。如果母校还继续运作，今年是她的100周年纪念。 10月1日是校庆日，校友会于是举行端蒙世纪晚宴。　　看了光碟，我又想起了世纪晚宴的点滴。　　端蒙的校训是勤慎诚正。晚宴主宾在致辞时，即呼吁校友们以母校为荣，立身处世，秉承校训精神，在各自的岗位为国家作出贡献。　　多位老师在台上演说时，纷纷表示非常怀念在端蒙的岁月，真情溢于言表。席间，不少双鬓已斑白的校友，亲切地向老师问好，态度十分诚恳。　　良师教益多，同窗情谊长。希望各位校友，加强与师长和同学们的联系。谨以校歌中的最后两句歌词“群奋起兮学子，扬校誉兮日隆”与校友们共勉! 作者为端蒙中学1967年高中毕业生
