Seen March 25, 2008, Poinsett Co. Arkansas. Associating with Northern Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, and Blue-winged Teal. Pale orange legs, pale/tan flanks and rump. Hard to tell back color - dark. Dark brown breast. Pale cheek patch, dark cap with green gloss. All black bill, smaller than typical shoveler bill. Overall bird slightly smaller than Northern Shoveler.

This bird is believed to be a Gadwall x Northern Shoveler hybrid.
