Behind microwave, a 30" wide, 18" deep counter about 40" high, with drawers for tools, cupboards for storage. Then 6 feet of pantry storage, 1' deep. At the end is a 2' deep, 4'wide blind corner utility cupboard. To the left are the new stairs and railings. This room was all 30" below the kitchen, two steep stairs went the length of the archway opening. We had a platform built to bring the pantry area up to the kitchen height and put 4-stair staircase down to the back door (still unpainted). The dog sink is off to the far left, under that window. Those white and blue stacked things are a set of three footstools from Levengers Catalog (one is in my office when pic was taken). I wanted them for the window seat area, but the space there is barely wide enough for them to fit. I keep them at the top of the stairs so Bill can use one to reach the upper cupboards. I use one sitting next to two stacked ones to make a stairway for Meg to get into the dog sink on her stiff and grouchy days. The artwork over the door is an original that Bill bought in his bachelor days at an art fair. It reminded him of a photo he had seen of his dad as a toddler in Malta. The artist said it was of his Uncle Paul. Bill's dad is also named Paul!
