You can see that the ceiling starts to slope down about halfway across the galley area. My builder ended up making me a maple box to mount the ceiling fixture on because it hung too low when we tried to install it with the hanging kit. These cabs are 84" high, not the full 96" of the main kitchen area. When Jim found the third of four live wires buried in the wall behind the utility cabinet at the end of the run, we used it to power rope lighting above the cabs. Makes a nice night-light and illuminates the glassware displayed on top. The utility cabinet provides a place for the vacuum, a first in this house that is 53 years old! My neighbors and I usually hid the vac in a bedroom. We all have the same house with different remodeling choices.
