I think this is of Loi Krathong, which celebrates rivers and waterways. Now it is massively polluting with firecrackers being let off all through town, even into the river, and lanterns by the thousands floating into the air, held aloft by gobs of fire lighter, only to ditch all over the countryside when the firelight burns out. It's pretty exciting and theatrical, nevertheless, and a lot of fun (even if I felt guilty). Yes, this photo was in the rear building at the most central war in town. I presume the river and this festival are accepted as having religious significance. Sorry about the reflection of the light in the temple. I guess it gives the photo its context.
