There is a bit of a jolt when the rope catches, but a spring eases the worst of it and the jumper moves from being upside down, to sitting or lying back in the harness. They start out ringing themselves horizontally, they then fall upside-down, the rope catches and they move to vertical swinging back and forth. The arc slows and at a certain point, they are thrown a rope which is used to haul them in to a concrete path.
