Ripped off.

A year ago, Romeo had won two mares after a month-long struggle with another male. He came away with the females and also a very bloody wound to the forehead that made me wonder if he would survive. (Scroll down through my images and find the photo).

He fought for and kept the mares until a few months ago, but has since lost them and is now single again.

You will notice if you look again at the above image that he has lost something else: His left ear has been completely ripped off. Under the mane, there is nothing but the hole where the ear was. Only a well-placed bite could have taken it off.

The missing ear was the first thing I noticed. They do certainly lead a strenuous life. Voted.
