I wouldn't have known what this was if I hadn't read the caption. But I liked it nonetheless. What draws it away from being a simple repeating pattern are the variety of "eyes" in each cell.

Interesting pattern. I like the variations in tone across the image. Marc

Effective result with the diagonals in both directions and the light/colour gradient from lower left to top right and each 'tile' having its own colour pattern. John

I think, you made it, igb. I wanted to capture different kinds of dualities: between net and holes and between foreground and background. The title is also for some duality: technically the capture is simple as possible (no need for any set-up, or even to move away from my desk) but the result looks intricated.

Very interesting idea. Really. My only issue is that I can't get hold of it. I don't know what you have photographed: the net of the pencil holder or the holes (hadn't I read the caption I'd still be thinking that they were some kind of metallic tiles like those in an armour). Maybe there's the rub, maybe you've managed to photograph a concept ( a duality form-emptiness or so) rather than something aestethically appealing in terms of simmetry and harmony. Too hard for me, in a nutshell. I don't think that the title fits the image either (lots of diamond-shaped "cells" with dimaond-shaped black spots in them forming patterns). That was a compliment, I think ;).igb
