Thanks for the comments.

I struggled with the alignment here ( an understatement ;-) , and I should go back and process it again to fix it. I have taken many shots of the building in this session and several without persons, but I found the one with human more alive and appealing. I tried a variety of shutter speeds and eventually set for this image where the person is "blurred" to avoid making it too much part of the picture. .

Now on the tree, I'm totally with you. I asked myself the same question while I was there. There are actually several trees in front of the building, but they could have been placed very easily much more in sync with the rhythms of the building (aligned on the side of the door ? ).

The black tones are beautiful, the entrance to the library is beautiful, I don't mind the distorsion but get a little bugged by the ugly entity walking by, and by the tree. Why does it need to be a tree there? And what will it look like in 50 years from now? I'm sure the architect didn't plan it that way. Maybe you can get the city council of Toronto to move it while it still is a small?
