I believe this is an immature Hummingbird Moth feeding on Lavender nectar.
Sadly I could not capture the adult ~ far to fast for me and the A2

Thanks for the positive comments. The A2 has given me the chances to get some nice pleasing macro type shots of insects. As I remarked, what I took to be the adult form of this little creature eluded me. Unlike a couple of shots of this 'life stage' that lands on the flowers the adult hovers continuously I did not see one land once or pause long enough to get an in focus shot.
