Solar Blast! by Kimberly

When we got home and looked at this photo, my husband looked at it and laughed that it looked more like a nuclear explosion to him than a peaceful sunrise ~ the sun was just too bright and powerful. So, when I was looking through images for this exhibition, I suppose the comment "nuclear explosion" stuck in my mind. Thus, the title SOLAR BLAST! Hope it's not too much of a stretch. Thought maybe it would make more sense if I explained my thoughts. After all, what has more energy than the sun ;)

I'm off with my camera today to see if I can find something more fitting to the theme :)

By the way, the photo was taken at the Grand Canyon a couple of weeks ago. It was quite spectacular to watch the sun rise and quickly change the colors of the landscape.

Sun pics are not easy.
Not too sure about theme meeting but it is a cracking image.

The flat topped hills are odd, where abouts was it taken?

Nice photo Kimberly. I agree with John about the "blast"...Maybe "Solar Flair" playing on both meanings?

Lovely image Kimberly. Perfectly framed with nice use of colour and even lens flare as Bruce pointed out. My only reservation is that I don't get a sense of a burst of energy as the sun can't just burst into the sky, but rather gets there through a more gradual process. It works much better for me if I take a very quick look at your photo, which helps to avoid going blind too! ;o) Cheers, John

I actually like the bit of lens flare. It adds to the whole effect and makes it seem less static. I wouldn't change a thing. Good job!
