Nicely 'seen' b&w of such a simple material.

This is defintely an example of simple is best because in colour it would have no punch.

Great treatment of one of the more mundane everyday things as seen from another perspective. The B&W treatment works well with the paper. Look at all those fibers...

Thanks for all the new comments. Michael, it's just a few sheets of normal copy/print a4 paper stacked on each other, shot at high magnification. So you can see some of the fine structure of the paper and it looks rather thick. I also stated that it is paper in the caption, but most people (including me) don't read them ;-)

Certainly an interesting photo...but alas....what is it? Many things stacked on top of another? No one has inquired to what it is (unless I missed it). Am I the only one who doesn't know what it is? Then again, maybe that's why it is so intriguing.

This photo is so very interesting, it draws me in closer & closer to see that which is hardly ever noticed.Actually, I really do pay particular attention to the selvedges of paper and these sheets look so inviting. Brush anyone?

Hi Smatty, I have no very special connection. The 50 mm lens fits right into the lens shade, where I fixed it with some adhesive tape. Then I just have to put on or off the lens shade. Drawback is you can't use the lens shade then. I'm also not sure if the lens shade mount is suitable for holding the weight of the lens. I would need some 49 to 52 mm reversing ring but I haven't ordered one yet.

Duh, next time I read your Picture Comment first.. ;)
Di you hand hold the lens onto the A2 or do you have a special connection?

Thanks smatty. As stated in the caption the picture was taken with a reversed 50 mm lens added to the A2. You usually get pretty small DOF with such a setup (thats why I used f/11). I think also that the camera was a bit tilted ie. not quite perpendicular with respect to the paper, which has moved the upper and lower part further out of the focus plane.

This one is even better. Great job. How did you manage to get such a shallow DOF with f11???

Thanks for your comment, Donald. Cannot say anything about the rag content of the paper. It is just normal A4 print/copy paper though.

I like the frayed edges on this composition. The B&W makes everything stand out. Curious about what the rag content of the paper was.

ok, so what if it's paper - i still want to eat it it! - the detail/depth is ...great, so's the composition. thanx. adrianox

Incredible texture, and a very graphical feeling. You have used the narrow DOF to you advantage beautifully. Well done

Good interpretation -- I like the sharpness at the centre with loss of focus either side.

Nicely done with beautiful gradients of greys. I like the B&W choice. Simple but powerful. You could't have emphasized those 'edges' much more than that.
Cheers.

The composition and the choice of B&W works very nice in this closeup, and the texture is great.
