Simple composition but appealing and I like the use of colour. I'd be interested to see this shot again with the lemon slice more sideways on - so that more of the texture of the flesh could be seen. Not sure if it would work better, but I would like to see it. :)

Hi Simon,
Met any amorous lemons recently? ;o) This one looks a bit sour, so it's probably best not to provide any encouragement. Actually, this title would even work for your town painting pic.
This pic does not inspire me to the same extent as your lipstick and cufflink, although I enjoy its simplicity (and dare I say pseudo-macrocity? ;o)). On the technical side, your exposure is spot on and the starkness of the bold food against the sterile white background is certainly very clean and ordered. I have the same comment as for your lipstick shadow about the ragged edge of the shadow that resulted from your processing. Smoother edges would work better for me, but it's only a minor issue. If it was me, I would probably have tried feathering the edges of the shadow selection before processing the areas that ended up bieng white in an attempt to provide a more gradual transition.
Special thanks for submitting your full quota and I hope voting turns out to be fun for us all. As I've said elsewhere, I already feel like a big winner for having been able to see so many interesting and creative depictions of the theme, including all your unique contributions.
Cheers, John
