I wouldn't crop it much since it's the space that hints at an untold story. I'd position the ring the same distance from the bottom as from the side, then clone out the blurred twig top right. The I'd use curves to give it a tiny bit more punch. But actually this is one of my favourites so far. Tim A
I really like this image. The aforementioned cropping issue aside, my interpretation is that the red "buoy" represents life/hope (color) in the midst of death/despair (B&W). Just my take ... I like it.

Hi Simon,
Simple and effective, but the thing at the top right is a bit ugly. Rather than cropping. Why not clone it out or crop the top off the picture? Either way would work, but I'd be inclined to crop to produce a cleaner, smoother top area.
(I also saved your pic with more compression for a 'legal' file size).
