Ms M waiting for Mr S by John down under

in & from my house [& inside my head ;o)]

The PSE2-meister strikes again with the ubiquitous Mollshka!

Molly is patiently waiting for Mr Sandman, but she can't get party thoughts our of her mind after she turned 7 on 1 March, the day Challenge #4 started. However, she needs to be thinking about sleep after all that partying. Molly was about 4 years old when my wife and I brought her home from the pound in March 2001, so we decided on a birthdate of 1 March. She has turned out to be quite a colourful character, as you can see.

The birthday pic was shot on Molly's birthday. The hat only stayed on long enough for a big smile and a photo. The picture of the clouds was from the evening of 4 March from the roof of my house. The exif information is from that photo as I used it as the background to start this project. The clouds set the mood for the turbulent partying into the night and the inevitable need to rest. The bed shot was taken earlier today (6 March) and I added the yellow glow around the DREAM letters that sit on top of the head of the bed. The pic of Molly and her wine glass party trick was from the Challenge #3 exhibition gallery, except that I isolated Molly and the wine glass and had to play with the pic a bit more to let the new background show through the glass.

The coloured border and thought bubbles were all done manually with the help of the gradient tool. I added a narrow white border around each, then applied some gaussian blur for a softening effect.

Aw, she is just sooooo photogenic, isn't she? She's got such an expressive face.
Love the humour. This pic certainly isn't run of the mill.

From John down under
Hi Steven. You don't think a sober man would be creating such ideas, do you? ;o) It did take a fair amount of work, but a large component of that time was because I am making things up as I go along as I am still only new to PhotoShop Elements 2. Still, I am having fun doing what is probably akin to reinventing the wheel in many cases. As there were several pics in one for this pic, I kept developing alternative approaches as I went along and going back to apply them to the others, which meant additional effort. I was satisfied that I had achieved what I set out to do when I eventually posted it and went to bed. Cheers, John

Boy, you must have emptied that whole diagonal of wine, seeing all the work that went into this picture!
