It was quite a distance off. I was on a perimeter road just above the beach (basically at eye level to the height of the kiteboarder - he was about 20 feet up), with about 60 feet of beach to the waterline, and another 100 feet or so off shore to where he was. Needed all 750mm of zoom, and a bit of crop too! Thank you.
What I think makes this photo are the lines of drips from the figure and board - they give a sense of motion the image. 500m!! If this is cropped the action must have been some way off shore. Nigel
