Angela Gratton has many reasons to smile. She had a double-lung and heart transplant AND was also a living donor because she donated her native heart so another could live. Living heart transplants are very rare and occur when surgeons feel that a lung transplant recipient would benefit from receiving both a heart and lungs from a donor with all the connections attached. Angela said she received her "gift of life" 10 years ago plus one month and four days, April 21st, 1997.
