Another one of my favorite weapons is the Browning Automatic Rifle. This particular model is the 1918A2 version and probably served or was stored for future usage for both WW2 and the Korean conflict. As you can tell it is a deact and is in very rough shape.

My goal is to obviously keep it a deact but make it more presentable. Most of the internal parts have been destroyed but the exterior has great potential.

I will post pics of the progress of restoring this great piece of our history with the hope of bringing it back to its original state very soon.

I began by welding up the cuts with a friends MIG welder. I do not recommend this method and do recommend a TIG welder. Do not ever use a flux core on either. Once the area had been welded to my liking I procced to use a small dremel bit to flatten or remove the excess weld. You can also use a circular grinder if you are unsure of your abilities with the dremel.

Once done it was off to the sandblaster where it was blasted with attention being made not to damage any cartouches or manufacturing notations. In this case I wanted to keep the markings from the Royal Typewriter Co. and the flaming bomb cartouche on the barrel.

Once blasted the gun was blued. The best results were obtained by using Oxphoblu.
