Technically, all spiders are poisonous in the sense that all make venom and inject it when they bite either prey, or to defend themselves. HOWEVER, only a few spiders produce venom powerful enough to bother humans, and this IS NOT ONE OF THOSE. It is a common garden spider of the sort that makes flat, oval webs commonly suspended between trees, or trees and buildings. It waits for prey in the center of the web during the night, and (usually) hides from birds during the day.

I saw this spider on my front porch. What is it's name and is it poisonous?
