Volunteering as Information Center hosts at the Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetua, along Hwy. 101 at about the middle of the Oregon coastline, we got to see the Cape in a variety of ways. The main habitats here are Sitka spruce forest and rocky (at the Cape) coastline, which puts on quite a show if the waves are high. The Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is part of the Siuslaw (say sigh-YOU-sla) National Forest, which is the only one on the west coast of the 48 lower states to touch the Pacific Ocean--which is why it found its way into the Oregon coastal parks gallery. It's not a state park, but it is a park with coastal features.
