Devil's Churn, Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, Lincoln Co. Oregon

The morning after a storm, and high tide was a less than an hour ago. All night, the ocean had beat its floating layer of seafoam to form a milky cream, and it retreated after throwing a copious layer of that onto the rocks. All day, we answered questions from visitors about what that material was [it started as the "Seafoam" created by mixing salt from the waves with the binders in the bodies of dead plankton to form a light openwork of foam, easily picked up by the wind; then it was deconstructed by the rough, churning surf]. We don't know the official name for it; we call it "latte."
