Interstate 80 intersects the Pacific Crest Trail here at a Rest Area, so I always try to stop when I have time to walk a while. About 20 minutes' walking will get me away from the road noise and help me shake off some of the frantic freeway feelings from negotiating the passage from the empty, open, vast Nevada desert through the concentrated, intense craziness of Sparks and Reno and then spurring the VW up the steep back side of the Sierra Nevada.
