This shot was taken on a foray to a local wildlife park with my good friend and Nikon buddy, Henry. The flamingoes, unfortunately, were not very accessible, so I had to use my 70-300mm lens at full tilt to capture this shot. The overhanging greenery also made shooting conditions difficult because it not only reduced the light but also partially obscured the birds.
I took this shot into PS CS, sorted the levels, duplicated the layer, used a 'glowing edge' filter on the top layer, desaturated and inverted it and then used a 'soft light' blend mode to bring the colour through from the layer beneath. I then copied the two layers to a single new layer and tidied the image up before cropping and framing.
Thanks for looking!
