We love weimaraners and think they are the "best" family or companion dog. They are amazingly smart, sweet and loyal and none will love you more. They are "people" dogs and think they are human. They love people and are not the type to put out back and forget about. Weimaraners crave human interaction. You may have seen them in ads, books and commercials. William Wegman photographs them for books, cards and calendars. You can look at his website by his name. They are currently in a depression commercial on tv and they are on Sesame Street. You may see them about anywhere. We microchip ID all our dogs. They are OFA (Offa.org) certified if old enough and the males are DNA tested thru AKC. You may email at hoodmmfarms@aol.com if you would like to inquire about a puppy. The June 2005 issue of Southern Living magazine has an article about having a pet has it's health benefits. Anyone who has a dog probably knows this. It says spending time with a pet releases serotonin and decreases cortisol, a stress-related hormone. Pets also improve a person's overall sense of well-being. I knew they were good for us but I didn't know the medical reasoning. I know I had really never slept until I slept with a dog's head resting on my legs. I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Whether you sleep with them or not you really should spend time with your weimer for it to reach it's full potential and that's hard to do unless you keep them indoors at least for the 1st year. Also go to Real-Age.com and you will see that having a dog significantly lowers the stress in your life and therefore can help you to live longer. So sleeping with one would have to help you live a really long time. You have to take the survey and it will ask if you have a dog then when you get your results it will say congratulations on owning a dog it means you will probably live longer because they releive stress and you tend to be more active. If you call we can give you more info and websites or references for this info. Also just read where doctors are telling their patients with debilitating illnesses to get a dog. Only a dog (other than God himself) could be there thru something like chemo - beleive it or not I think they do understand when we are suffering mentally or physically and they are always there and always loving. They also are a great dog for people with allergies. Our vet is also a reference for us and would be glad to talk to you. There are also comments by vets that people have posted after taking their pups to their vets.

I love my Weimey- He just turned a year. he is my first dog and I take him everywhere. he has never snapped or bitten anyone. Other friends of mine with Weimy's are jealous of how good looking mine is and how personable he is. Highly recommend the Hoods if you are interested in this breed as I can vouch they raise healthy, well mannered puppies.

We LOVE our Weimey! We got Toby from the Hoods in March 2005, and he'll be FOUR in December. I've had many types of dogs, but none is smarter or has more personality than our Toby! As he entertains us constantly, we call him "Toby TV"...he's much more entertaining than any TV program. Can't say enough good things about the Hoods, how they lovingly raise their litters, and the quality of the dogs. (Have another friend who got one from them last year, and he is thrilled, too). Don't get a Weimaraner from anyone but the Hood Family!

Good Afternoon! I am currently in the market for a good family dog. I just had a baby 4 months ago….she’s a big 4 month baby but of course I am still cautious as to what type of pup I bring in…I grew up with dogs my whole life…my fiancé not so much…He is a dog lover but prefers them while they are young so we can all adjust as a family together…after researching family dogs a coworker suggested the Weimaraner breed and from what I have read about them thus far seems to be an ideal pup for us…so to make a long story short I wanted to know if by chance you all have any pups for sale if so how old? We took Mellow home 2 years ago and he is such a part of our family. In November I took home one of Buddy and Reba's puppies. I would love to have your email address so I can send you some pictures! I named my puppy Bear. He is 6 months old now and weighs over 60lbs! He is very lovable! He loves any person,including kids, animals, and stuffed animal that he sees! He has been potty trained for about 2 months and never chewed on anything but his toys! Violet, Thanks for your Christmas card and inquiry regarding Solomon, the first puppy to be adopted from Ham and Rosie's litter of 8/06. Solomon is a wonderful, sweet and loving dog. He has great puppy energy but can also relax and be quite calm while traveling or settling down for the night. He is a beautiful animal and the best dog either of us have ever owned. In May, we picked up from you a 6 1/2 week old puppy, which we have named Bailey. She is a wonderful dog. While house training was an ordeal, she is now 7 1/2 months old and has been fully house trained for about 1 month. Some of this may have resulted from the fact that she never barks...it was very hard to tell when she needed to go out. She weighs about 50 pounds and has had nothing but great reports from the vet. She also learned commands quickly when we enrolled in some formal dog training a few months ago. While she seems to have found her "voice" now, she still rarely barks. She loves to exercise and go on long walks. She loves to snuggle us on the couch and in bed. She is amazing with our two daughters, ages 2 and 6 1/2, and they could not love her more. The only issue we are still addressing is a bit of chewing (the girls toys and our couch). We would recommend this breed to anyone, and also you as a breeder. My husband brought home Rockne in January and he is 7 months old and weighs 63 pounds. He is a beautiful boy and has been potty trained for about 2 months. He is very smart and loves to cuddle. He sleeps between us with his head on a pillow! He is very good with kids and never meets a stranger.

Hello! I brought Payton home right around Christmas. He is now 7 months old, and 55 pounds. He's been completely house trained since the beginning of February, and is super smart. He has learned all the commands we have taught him within a few tries. He is very loving. I roughhouse with him a lot, so he's probably not as calm as my girlfriend would like him to be!

Heather & I have been looking at expanding our family and have searched & researched a great deal prior to picking our Weimaraner vender. We want to tell you both how much we enjoyed meeting you and your family Friday evening. After a long hard choice we did pick a new family member from you and named him Jake. We took Jake to the vet for his check-up and rabies shot and our vet (Conyers Animal Hospital 770-483-1551 Dr. Kidd) said Jake was one of the best animals she has ever seen from a breeder and the fact that you do/provide everything that you do (microchip, shots, waiting until 2 mos old) was so rare and that you should be commended! Jake has been great, goes into his crate at night without challenges, mostly house trained, calm and very loving. We are having our first experience with a Weimaraner, our daughter adopted one after her Chocolate Lab attack thier 18month old baby and had to be put down. As grandparents we were upset at the thot of another large dog around the baby and soon to be another baby. The Weimaraner has shocked us beyond words!!! "Archie" is the most gentle, protective, and loving dog, we have all fallen in love with him. I dont know if he is one of a kind but he is a "Sweetheart" of a dog!! I would recommend this breed to anyone especially a home where children are present. The Chocolate Lab was featured in "Just Labs", he was a beautiful dog but the tragedy offset any good quality traits he may have had.
