We love weimaraners and think they are the "best" family or companion dog. They are amazingly smart, sweet and loyal and none will love you more. They are "people" dogs and think they are human. They love people and are not the type to put out back and forget about. Weimaraners crave human interaction. You may have seen them in ads, books and commercials. You may see them about anywhere. We microchip ID all our dogs. They are OFA (Offa.org) certified if old enough and the males are DNA tested thru AKC. Anyone who has a dog probably knows this. It says spending time with a pet releases serotonin and decreases cortisol, a stress-related hormone. Pets also improve a person's overall sense of well-being. I knew they were good for us but I didn't know the medical reasoning. I know I had really never slept until I slept with a dog's head resting on my legs. I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Whether you sleep with them or not you really should spend time with your weimer for it to reach it's full potential and that's hard to do unless you keep them indoors at least for the 1st year. Also go to Real-Age.com and you will see that having a dog significantly lowers the stress in your life and therefore can help you to live longer. So sleeping with one would have to help you live a really long time. You have to take the survey and it will ask if you have a dog then when you get your results it will say congratulations on owning a dog it means you will probably live longer because they releive stress and you tend to be more active. Only a dog (other than God himself) could be there thru something like chemo - beleive it or not I think they do understand when we are suffering mentally or physically and they are always there and always loving.
