Moon over UAL
~
How like a queen comes forth the lonely Moon
From the slow opening curtains of the clouds
Walking in beauty to her midnight throne!
- George Croly, Diana
~ ~ ~
Todays cliche shot - "on Saturday, Jan 10th. the moon will be the biggest and brightest for this year of 2009...
It will be the biggest and brightest one of 2009, sure to wow even seasoned observers...
Saturday night (Jan. 10) the moon will be at perigee, the closest point to us on this orbit...
It will appear about 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some other full moons during 2009, according to NASA."
It was indeed a big, beautiful moon!

Gorgeous! You made good use of the little bit of light that was avaiable.

A beautiful moon shot. Nice to have something on earth in the shot.

I thought it looked really bright when we were making a late-night run to Taco Bell. If you'd caught an Emirates flight taking off, it would've been "Moon over UAE." ;)

Excellent shot of it. Definitely the best time to capture it.

You caught the magic night when the moon rises and there is still enough ambient light to see the foreground. Very well done too. And on the best night of the year too!

Good'un. Here it was -15°C last night. My hands and my camera stayed in my pockets.

We just went out to look. Sure is large, but way too dark now to try a picture.

WOW! Really nice! Too cloudy here to see the moon tonight. Sigh...

Very nice. The moon went behind clouds here
