Beneath
~
Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and
cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever
is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong. - Lao-Tzu (600 B.C.)

Our front lawn sported a geyser this afternoon until the valiant crew from Public Works showed up and shut it down.
They were quick, courteous, and seemed to enjoy working together to stem the tide from the broken 2" water main. It didn't hurt that the temperature was in the low 60's! (That's the natural gas main between the broken water pipe and workers leg.)

A rather damp start to the new year!

Like Steve said, nice that it wasn't you having to get down in the mud to fix it.

No fun at all!! At least you didn't end up with a 10' sink hole in the yard.

That's some crack. Soft water gets hard moving at that speed.

Interesting

Good thing it was a city pipe instead of you having to go dig on the muck!

And where in the softness range, exist those roots??? Great colors, story well told.
