GALLERY:: Zion National Park:: Light, Color, Spirit ::February 2006

Four days shooting in February in Zion National Park was a gift. In February you can drive into the canyon and not take the shuttle bus and the park is virtually empty. My friend Phil (His Galleries at pbase: https://pbase.com/pnd1 and His gallery of the journey: http://worldisround.com/articles/278784/index.html )and I were able to plan for the best light.

Zion, like Yosemite, is beautiful beyond what can be captured in the frame of a picture, we both strove to record the spirit of what we saw, while at the same time realizing that the magnificat scope of the place often allowed us simply, as Minor White says, "... to expose our hearts."

I have tried, in this gallery, to share, from my heart, the spirit of Zion. That spirit, I feel, is best captured with an interplay of light and color. I hope you enjoy this gallery.
