Very surreal image. Is she outside the bars looking in or is she confined inside looking out? How you see her can certainly affect your interpretation of the photo. It is this ambiguity that makes this image so intriguing.

A real winner! This makes me just want to break out!

Carol, this image reminds me of the "spirit" of some of your Berkeley images.

The mannequin's face is the brightest part of the image and yet it is behind bars! There is just something so surreal about this image!

Malacca has a history of occidental colonialism - that, too, is a part of the 'ghostliness' of the mannequin and the model.

Fascinating! The mannequin has western features and the print model has eastern features.

You know how I savor the incongruity of mannequins in strange contexts. And this is certainly one of the most expressive such images I've seen. She is not only ghostly, but seems content to be confined by that steel gate. She is well dressed, totally at ease, and has no business being there. Yet she there she is, floating there in the darkness.
