I loved this portrait of Marta Becket which hangs in office of the Amargosa Hotel. To me it expressed an ephemeral nature of art and artist.

I, too, tried to capture this, to no avail. What you created here is a special image of an ageless Marta in the shadows and the dance that has been one of the highlights of her life. This is really an amazing picture of an amazing woman.

It is magical, Tim -- I shot it again and again, and came up with a lovely portrait and soft ballerina, or a sharp ballerina and a soft painting. You must include both in focus if this idea is to work, and you were able to do just that here.

Strangely enough I didn't really do much with my Photoshop magic - I dodged on the whites of her eyes to call a bit more attention to them and dodged on the dancing figure to make it a bit lighter. I also cropped the image.

You made this image work so well -- I had trouble getting both the painting and the ballerina into focus because I was not using a tripod, and had to use a larger opening. By using almost a full second at a very small aperture, you were able to marshall the technical resources to make this idea work. I also like the contrast in light between ballerina and painting which provides your ephemeral message here. You must have used your magical masks and layers during post processing to make this contrast work. A beautiful tribute to an amazing individual.
