Transport

The truck seems to me to represent the future - the future that Bodie didn't last as a viable town long enough to see.

Thanks Iris, Ron and Phil for your comments - to answer the question of where I took this image from - I climbed the hill behind the parking lot and took it from up there.

I really like this one; how did you get up there?

Great vantage point, Tim. Where did you shoot this from?

Wonderful point, Tim. i have seen many images of this truck and those old pumps, but never as expressive as you made it with the use of morning light here. That light is also doing wonderful things in the windows of the old hotel at center. I spent a half hour shooting reflections in them. Here are two of them:http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/69230223 andhttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/69229602
The reflections play a significant role in your image as well -- they make the hotel seem almost transparent -- a metaphor for Bodie's empty future you are expressing.
