How creative.........no awning required! Actually, an awning probably wouldn't withstand the elements in Iceland. Hence, we witness this environmental adaptation.
Certainly a unique style for a window. I would never have thought to bend corrugated this way, ironically for Iceland, to shade from the sun! I see what you mean by having the windows a major component of the home....maybe even more important than the front yard landscape.
