GALLERY:: Studies in Black and White

In my earliest journeys into photography, black and white was my mode, partly because I could develop the images myself in my own darkroom. Most of the time it is color and light that draw me - but sometimes I find that an image speaks in Black and White. In this gallery I return to my roots.

I often find color in images such as these to overwhelm the beautiful textures and can distract me from really seeing line and movement. Each of your nature shots is enhanced by the b&w treatment - it showcases the wonderful delicacies in each subject. Your street shot is a great combination of lights and darks - the perfect platform for the two men to tell their stories. Jenene

Wonderful start to your new gallery. Because we see the world around us in color, it is the monochromatic image that challenges the imagination, motivates us to see the world differently, and makes us better observers. I am very moved by the black and white image and your new gallery reminds me why.

Roots, leaves, bark, trees, spores....all are so beautifully captured in the true Timesque style. I love every one of them with your great textures brought out by good use of monochrome. Well done!
