Ok...so after many years of using large and formally very expensive CRTs for my primary monitor, I finally ran across this pair of VERY inexpensive consumer Dell 23" IPS 1080P monitors and am blown away with the performance of them.
My only adjustment was to turn the brightness and contrast significantly down to well under 85 nits (CD/m^2). My computer room has very soft indirect lighting, which is fortunate because the glossy surface would have been intolerable.
I softproof in Photoshop and the prints from my Epson R1900 match extremely well.
Since this photo, my computer morphed into a current Intel CPU w/16GB RAM, small SSD boot + 10TB storage, similar case, 64bit Win7, new router and the same model but new keyboard and mouse. I lost the cam and fingerprint reader.
I like old school so the computer even has a dead floppy drive for looks:) But these screens with the same wallpaper remain.
Update 031019: I just moved these monitors across the room to a backup system. Just about the only thing left is the stapler:)
