A Bus Stop in Denali National Park

Denali National Park, Alaska

We took a bus tour (weren't allowed to drive individual vehicles) into Denali; this shot was taken from one of our stops along the way.
I'm not sure what I expected, but let's just say I was disappointed with the vast 'openness' without much in the way of trees.

Wonderful wildlands. Might it be too cold and harsh for trees? It looks like it isn't far upslope to the limits to all vegetation, the equivalent at lower latitudes of the 'grass-line' high in the mountains.
