hi Mindy, today i realize for me it is the yellow!!!! that makes the purple!!! so specieal, plus you seem to unlike me, focus really really weLLL. this image still jumps out for me with a lot of life and beauty!!! i will try to sneak in a 2nd vote, because it deserves it! as do you! keep em comin! don
Guest 12-Aug-2005 08:16
i agree with you, if i'll be asked, it'll be hard also to choose between the 2 which one is best because they're both beautiful but after looking at them for minute.. i preferred most the second one because of the simplicity its background that makes the subject illuminate. :)
Guest 10-Aug-2005 21:21
Wonderful.
Like a 3D
Donald Verger09-Aug-2005 08:24
the first one is a symphony!!! oh my!!! you have taken the shot i have been wanting to take for years!!!! i am trying to buy thistle for my garden and shot some images of them i found in front of an old rundown maine barn last year that i was so excited about but no one else has been and maybe they are not as good as i wished... one is somewhere on pbase... i will try and find it and let you know...
but it is this image!!! that is so gloreous!!! a 1st prize winner to me!!! bravo Mindy!!! vote, vote, vote!!! could you write me where you saw this and how you shot it ... and my flowers i see are not so amazingly saturated and puple???

Amazing colours Mindy! I love the one you chose it's so vibrant.
(They are Echinops, globe thistle :-))
northstar3724-Jul-2005 21:49
somebody just told me that these are echinopses ;-)
Guest 24-Jul-2005 03:51
Amazing...they just juup out at you!
alda16-Jul-2005 05:18
Your blue globe thistles are stunning!
Mine have yet to bloom....
The clarity and depth of blue(s) is spectacular and exposed perfectly!
Very very nice. Vote!
Guest 15-Jul-2005 17:04
Wow, these are excellent! They are absolutely stunning!
katwilkens15-Jul-2005 16:56
I like the horizontal one a little better--I think because of the way the spiky flowers pop out from the yellows and reds of the background. Good use of limited DOF.
Guest 15-Jul-2005 13:58
Both are stunning images. Very nice work!
Guest 14-Jul-2005 22:50
what can i say that hasn't already been said? these are both incredible images. there is something about those flowers that is so entrancing. a vote from me!
Al Varland13-Jul-2005 16:18
Love the 3-d effect..Voted!
Guest 13-Jul-2005 06:32
Beautiful purple! I love the second shot, too, but the yellow in the background of the first photo really adds pop.
Johan Toll13-Jul-2005 06:02
Beautiful shots! Love the colours!
Guest 12-Jul-2005 15:38
Love them both,Mindy!
I've never seen these before.
Guest 12-Jul-2005 05:08
They just glow. Very nice.
Sharon Rogers11-Jul-2005 22:42
The first one I like the dots of yellow in the bg and the 2nd one I like the black bg and composition. Hmm, can see why you found it difficult to choose, both are lovely.
Joanne Santillo11-Jul-2005 22:21
Great colour and sharp
Wenche Aune11-Jul-2005 22:01
Beautiful!
Lee Rudd11-Jul-2005 17:13
wow... beautiful electric colour.... they look like something from another planet
JeremyGood11-Jul-2005 17:02
Those are spectacular. Gives new meaning to the term "blue balls".
Voted.
J. Scott Coile11-Jul-2005 16:26
It sure is a hard decision when you have two really nice images. I think I lean toward the first just in composition. Quite exquisite. The background is a nice compliment. I would love the electric blue against black in the second if the whole background were black. Lovely!
Guest 11-Jul-2005 13:40
They both are beautiful. I like the colour of flowers and also, the brick wall background.
The second one is interesting in its composition (with the partially black background).
Neal Nye11-Jul-2005 12:10
I can see why you couldn't decide and fortunately there's no need to. But I like the top one. The color spots are like galaxies floating through space.
Zak11-Jul-2005 10:18
beautiful!
Besati11-Jul-2005 10:02
I like the colorful background of this one. A fabulous shot.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 08:38
I see what you mean. It is a hard choise. I like them both.
René Gysi11-Jul-2005 06:45
Very beautiful and well composed pictures. The first has a beautiful background.
Coleen Perilloux Landry11-Jul-2005 06:17
From the leaves I think it might be in the thistle family.
Coleen Perilloux Landry11-Jul-2005 06:16
I like the first one better, but they're both great. So sharp and the colors are fantastic. Gets my vote. Wow!
Steven Jusczyk11-Jul-2005 05:19
Incredible colors, great composition. Really nice.
laine8211-Jul-2005 05:19
Both are fabulously natural & pop for me without any help...gorgeous colour, Mindy.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 04:53
Mindy, while I like the colors and detail of each shot, I believe the second one is better...if you were to get all of violet pokey ball things ;^) into a black background they would really pop...just a thought! Thanks for sharing!
Guest 11-Jul-2005 03:58
Great closeup , I think I prefer the second one for the less distracting background..great shots
Lazy 3L Photography11-Jul-2005 03:36
I like them both, too, but if I "had" to pick, I'd pick the second one for it's simplicity. I do like the contrasting colors in the first, but something about the second one just draws me more.
Cindy Flood11-Jul-2005 03:10
I like the top one. More interesting composition. Great color.
Elaine (etfitz)11-Jul-2005 03:08
Like the top one! Fabulous colors and dof! GMV!
Guest 11-Jul-2005 03:04
Tough decision, good for you!
Karen Leaf11-Jul-2005 02:52
Hard to decide, but I'll go with #1. The purple explodes. GMV on this one.
noearlybird11-Jul-2005 02:47
Absolutely gorgeous. I thought your oranges were too good, now I'm deciding the blues are better . How did you do this??
petesie11-Jul-2005 02:41
Tough choice, but I prefer your first choice. Wish I knew what they are. That color is really something.
Didier Vanderperre11-Jul-2005 02:38
They are both great, a little preference for the second one
Didier

Perfect, beautiful, and so much fun to look at too! Voted.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 01:44
cool flower..excellent shot
Breland11-Jul-2005 01:43
I like the firest one because of the color splashes in the background of brick.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 01:37
Wow! Amazing dof....
Jeffery Stahlman11-Jul-2005 01:37
very nice captures
Guest 11-Jul-2005 01:29
Spectacular images...very 3D-like!
Pepe Zyman11-Jul-2005 01:19
Love it! The detail, DOF and colors are fantastic.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 00:50
As the others have said, wonderful color & detail.
Linda Willets11-Jul-2005 00:16
both are outstanding.. lovely blue color.. what type of flower? I'm jealous of all the florals shot.. so hot here for any flowers.
Guest 11-Jul-2005 00:07
Lovely!
Allen Chester10-Jul-2005 23:58
Both are great. I do like the perfectly contrasting yellow in the background of the one you chose.
Josy's Pics10-Jul-2005 23:42
Nice details and colors Mindy, I do like the one you picked too...
Well done...
Josy
Gayle P. Clement10-Jul-2005 23:37
I like the one you chose That beautiful spiky blue fills the frame nicely.
uofmtiger10-Jul-2005 23:36
Awesome sharpness! I like the top one because of the great DOF.
Guest 10-Jul-2005 23:36
Both images are great, but I like the one you chose a bit more because of the additional color. Great depth of field too.
Guest 10-Jul-2005 23:31
Gorgeous Mindy! Its like floral fireworks!!
The first one is my choice because there are so many and the bright
yellows and rust colored brick really pull it together.
V!
Guest 10-Jul-2005 23:23
Wonderful detail ... they are such a gorgeous purple! :)
steve mcsweeny10-Jul-2005 23:19
This may help you, vote!
don nieman10-Jul-2005 23:19
I like the first one. The brilliant colors, great composition and the depth of field adds interest. Very clear and detailed. Very nice!
Brian McAllister10-Jul-2005 23:19
Wow! This one's really nice. I love it.
Bob Smith10-Jul-2005 23:18
I like the first one too. They look like spiked purple cotton balls. What are they?
Mindy McNaugher10-Jul-2005 23:18
Sainath, I couldn't tell you the name of the flower either! I'm terrible at identifying flowers! Just photograph them!
Guest 10-Jul-2005 23:16
I 'm favoring the first one. I like the brick wall bg, and the splash of yellow as well. I'm not sure what the violet sphered blooms are (shame on me!), but they're fantastic. Love the color, detail, and their three dimensional feel here.
