Some of the buggies look very "homemade" and others look like a lot of money was spent on them. These machines have very high horsepower V8's. They need to be waterproofed to a certain extent as the track dips to about 6 feet deep in one spot. They ride on "skis" on the inside of the front wheels. The wheels act as rudders and acutally steer when at slow speeds. The rear wheels look like oversized tractor tires to provide traction in the mud as well as handle the high horsepower.
