Aries, III

We liked him but were glad we'd found his owner and that he'd
survived his ordeal on the streets. We were also glad that he'd
left before we'd had a chance to become really fond of him (already
we'd realized how easy it would be for that to happen).

One day a couple of weeks later I started getting the odd feeling
that he'd be coming back. The next evening he did. He'd gotten out,
had hung around his own house for a couple of hours, and then
apparently made a beeline for our place.

The cat's owner (that's incorrect, of course; we all serve at cats'
pleasures) made a tough decision. She'd had him since he was a kitten
and was so fond of him. But she decided to let him stay with us. She told
us he'd become unhappy in his current situation. Clearly he was happy
at our place. Despite our reluctance to have another cat so soon ...
how could we not do this? And we've completely fallen for him.

(He's a Maine Coon/Egyptian Mau mix, b.t.w. And very sweet.)
